The 1980s: increased publishing activities and the first steps abroad
In the 1980s, Weltbild either established or took over numerous magazine titles and book publishing houses. These included for example the magazine "Frau im Leben" (1987), the "Leben & erziehen" magazine providing advice for parents (1989), the "Junge Zeit" magazine for teenagers (1989) and the children’s magazines "Hoppla" (1989) and "Benni" (1984). In 1987, Weltbild acquired the Aschaffenburg-based Pattloch Verlag publishing house and at the same time established book publishing houses with titles focusing on providing practical advice.
In 1986, Weltbild launched a collaboration with the Salzburg-based company A&M and began selling books and other media in Austria. Two years on, in 1988, it established "Weltbild Verlag Schweiz", its Swiss subsidiary company, with headquarters in Olten.
In 1987, Winfried-Werk GmbH merged with Weltbild-Bücherdienst GmbH to form Weltbild Verlag GmbH. At the same time, its “SammlerEditionen business division offering series of books and collective works was launched.
