The 1970s: the company launches its mail-order book business
In 1972, Winfried-Werk GmbH set up a new subsidiary company – Weltbild-Bücherdienst GmbH. From then on, "Weltbild" readers could take advantage of an additional service and order books from a catalogue.
Over the course of the years, what was initially a black and white leaflet enclosed along with the Weltbild magazine evolved into the extensive Weltbild catalogue which nowadays has a monthly circulation of several million copies.
In 1975, Carel Halff became the managing director of Weltbild-Bücherdienst GmbH.
